Our Mission
Market Open Time exists to answer one question: when can I trade? We publish accurate, verifiable information about U.S. stock market trading hours, holiday schedules, and broker session availability. Every schedule we publish is sourced from official exchange calendars (NYSE, Nasdaq, SIFMA) and verified against broker documentation.
Fact-Checking
All market-hours data on this site follows a verification process:
- Holiday schedules are cross-referenced against official NYSE, Nasdaq, and SIFMA calendars at least annually.
- Broker hours are verified individually against each broker's published documentation and reviewed quarterly.
- Each schedule page includes a "last verified" date and source attribution.
- When an exchange or broker updates its schedule, we update our data within 48 business hours.
Corrections Policy
If you believe any information on this site is incorrect, outdated, or misleading, contact us at mopentime@gmail.com. We investigate all reports and correct verified errors within 48 hours. Corrections are noted on the affected page with a date stamp.
Data Sources & Methodology
Our market-hours data is sourced from:
- NYSE: Official holiday and early-close calendar (nyse.com/markets/hours-calendars)
- Nasdaq: Official trading calendar (nasdaq.com/market-activity)
- SIFMA: U.S. bond market holiday recommendations (sifma.org)
- Broker documentation: Individual broker websites for extended-hours policies
- FINRA & SEC: Regulatory rules for trading halts, settlement, and circuit breakers
Market status (open/closed/early-close) is computed server-side against these official calendars. Hours are converted to the user's local timezone in the browser. Our data pipelines refresh daily at 6:00 AM UTC to ensure accuracy for each trading day.
Insights & News
Our Market Hours News section focuses exclusively on developments that affect when you can trade: exchange schedule changes, broker session expansions, regulatory updates on clearing and settlement hours, and trading-halt announcements. We do not publish general stock-market commentary or investment advice.
When we summarize or reference third-party reporting (Reuters, CNBC, etc.), we link to the original source. All news items include publication date, source attribution, and byline.
AI & Automation Disclosure
We may use automated tools to assist with initial drafting and formatting, but all content is reviewed by a human editor for accuracy before publication. Market-hours data is generated programmatically from official sources and verified against those sources.

Market Open Time is an independent publication.
