Does Fidelity Offer Overnight Trading?

No. Fidelity does not currently offer overnight trading. Extended hours are limited to the premarket and after-hours sessions.

Eligible Securities

NYSE and Nasdaq-listed stocks and most ETFs. Some securities including OTC stocks and certain ETFs may not be eligible.

Supported Order Types During Extended Hours

Limit orders only. Fidelity also requires you to use the directed trading ticket and select "Extended Hours" for each order.

Do I Need to Enable Extended Trading?

Yes. You must accept the extended-hours trading agreement and select the extended-hours session when placing orders.

Do Orders Carry Between Sessions?

Day orders not filled during extended hours are canceled at the end of the session. GTC orders carry forward to the next eligible session.

Main Risks

Extended-hours trading carries higher volatility, lower liquidity, and wider bid-ask spreads regardless of broker. Prices in premarket or after-hours may differ significantly from regular-session prices. Always use limit orders to control your execution price.
